EBL receives IFC Global Award

Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director and CEO, Eastern Bank Ltd, receives IFC Global Award from Georgina Baker, Head of IFC for Trade Finance and Supply Chain Solutions at Lisbon in Portugal recently.

 

 Eastern Bank Limited was awarded the “Best Partner for Working Capital Systemic Solutions” by International Finance Corporation at the 6th Global Trade Partners Meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal recently.

The award was given to the bank as recognition to its innovative solutions for working capital financing to importers and counter party exporters including Offshore Bill Financing, said a press release. Georgina Baker, Head of IFC for Trade Finance and Supply Chain Solutions handed over the award to EBL Managing Director and CEO, Ali Reza Iftekhar at the function.

“I am really happy to receive the recognition for consecutive 4th year from IFC with whom we have been working closely for many years now,” said Ali Reza Iftekhar”.

State banks remain open tomorrow

The banks, including Sonali, Janata, Agrani and Rupali, has been asked to keep open their branches to facilitate candidates

All branches of the four state-owned banks will remain open tomorrow to facilitate transactions of the aspirant candidates of the reserved women seats of 10th parliament.

The banks, including Sonali, Janata, Agrani and Rupali, has been asked to keep open their branches to facilitate candidates getting treasury invoices, bank drafts, pay orders or postal orders, said a circular Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued yesterday.

The Election Commission (EC) has set March 29 for election to the 50 reserved seats and the by-polls to Tangail-8 constituency.

The deadline for candidates to submit their nomination papers to the returning officer at the EC secretariat was on March 4 while the date of scrutinising the papers was yesterday and the withdrawal of nominations is on March 12.

Bank Asia organizes foundation training

A Rouf Chowdhury, Chairman of the bank, handed over certificates to the participants at the concluding ceremony held at Bank Asia Institute for Training and Development at Rangs Bhaban in Dhaka on Monday, said a press release.

 Southeast Bank Limited (SEBL) and The Farmers Bank Limited have signed an agreement on Product and Network Sharing at SEBL’s head office recently.

This Product and Network Sharing agreement will facilitate beneficiaries (receivers) of foreign inward remittances in Bangladesh, said a press release.
