IBBL launches campaign with Xpress Money

Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) along with Xpress Money launched a 10-day umbrella distribution campaign for their customers at the bank's head office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Five thousand umbrellas will be distributed among the customers in selected 76 branches of IBBL in Comilla, Noakhali and Chittagong district, said a press release.
Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of IBBL, Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Deputy Managing Director and Head of IBW, Shamim Iftekhar, Country Manger for Bangladesh of Xpress Money, and high officials of both the organisations attended the launching ceremony.
Southeast Bank launches green award
Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairman of Southeast Bank-Financial Express-Policy Research Institute Green Award Trust, presides over the first meeting of the trust in Dhaka on Sunday.
The first meeting of “Southeast Bank-Financial Express-Policy Research Institute Green Award Trust” was held at the corporate head office of Southeast Bank Limited at Dilkusha in Dhaka on Sunday.
Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairman of the Trust and President of the Board of Trustees of East West University and former Bangladesh Bank governor presided over the meeting, said a press release.
This Green Award introduced by Southeast Bank in collaboration with Financial Express and Policy Research Institute, will be given to SME, Corporate and Women Entrepreneurs for environment-friendly business operations as well as to organizations, institutions, and individuals for creating community awareness for promoting sustainable development.
BASIC Bank earns Tk 2.85b operating profit

The AGM was attended, among others, by its members of the board of directors Shyam Sundar Sikder, Quamrun Nahar Ahmed, AKM Rezaur Rahman, Md Anwarul Islam, fcma, AKM Kamrul Islam, FCA, Anis Ahamad.
Kazi Faqrul Islam, Managing Director of the bank, Fazlus Sobhan, deputy amanging director, Kanak Kumar Purkayastha, AQM Kibriya and A Monaem Khan were present at the AGM.
A large number of shareholders including representatives of two audit farms – Saiful Shamsul Alam and Aziz Halim Khayer Chowdhury – were present at te meeting.
Bank transactions, bourses remain closed today
Transactions in banks and trading on stock exchanges will remain closed today because of year-end closure of financial statements
Banks will remain open for their staff to facilitate calculation of their accounts for the financial year 2012-2013 which ended on Sunday but no transaction will be taken place, said a Bangladesh Bank official.
The Dhaka Stock Exchnage and the Chittaging Stock Exchange on Sunday announced that the trading on the bourses would remain suspended today because of the closure of bank transactions.
StanChart Bankdeposits Tk 503cr in exchequer
Imtiaz Ibne Sattar, Chief Financial Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, hands over the last installment cheque of income tax worth Taka 80 crores to Golam Hussain, Chairman NBR and Secretary, IRD in Dhaka recently.
Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) has paid total Taka 503 crores as advance income tax (AID) for fiscal year 2012-13.
The bank has become the second largest tax payer under Large Tax Unit (LTU) of the NBR for the said period, said a press release.
