Woori Bank intends to open branch in Chittagong
The high officials of Woori Bank of Korea yesterday expressed their keen interest to open a branch of the bank in the port city.
They wanted to contribute in expansion of the banking sector for the economic progress of the region.
The declaration came when the officials paid a courtesy call to Murshed Murad Ibrahim, president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).
They requested Ibrahim to get allocation of spaces in World Trade Centre in Chittagong to open the branch.
Tae Hang Oh, deputy general manager and head of operations of Woori Bank in Dhaka, was present on the occasion.

NBL opens branch at Madhobdi
Parveen Haque Sikder, director and chairperson of the executive committee of National Bank Limited, is inaugurating a branch at Madhobdi in Narshindi yesterday.
National Bank Limited (NBL) inaugurated its 149th branch at Madhobdi in Narshindi yesterday.
Parveen Haque Sikder, director and chairperson of the executive committee of the bank formally inaugurated the branch as chief guest, said a press release.
Neaz Ahmed, managing director and CEO, presided over the inaugural meeting.
Among others, S M Jaffar, deputy managing director spoke on the opening ceremony. A K M Shafiqur Rahman, deputy managing director and company secretary delivered his welcome speech.
Md Mahmud Hassan, senior assistant vice president and manager of Madhobdi branch delivered his vote of thanks.
Parveen Haque Sikder said in his inaugural speech that NBL will put remarkable contribution to the business development of Madhobdi area like other branches of NBL.
Neaz Ahmed, managing director, in his speech mentioned that the banking network of NBL has further been extended in the Narshingdi area.
The elites and businessmen of the area were also present in the opening ceremony.

One Bank opens branch in Rangpur
One Bank Limited has opened its 52nd branch in Rangpur recently.
Johur Ullah, chairman of the board of director of the Bank, formally inaugurated the new branch, said a press release.
Forman R Chowdhury, managing director of the Bank, Juhora Bibi, its deputy managing director, A S M Sahidul Khan and Kazi Rukon Uddin Ahmed, board members, among other officials and local elite, were also present on the occasion.

Basic Bank opens branch at Islampur
Basic Bank Limited has opened its 38th branch at Islampur in the capital on Sunday.
Former lawmaker and chairman of the Bank Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu launched the activities of the new branch while board of director of the Bank Md Anwarul Islam (FCMA), managing director Kazi Faqurul Islam, additional managing director Sk Monzur Morshed were present among others.
Sheikh Abdul Hye Bachchu said: “To ensure the best service for the clients, the Bank is running its activities completely through online. The Bank was established in 1989 with a view to develop industrialization in our country. The Bank is now successfully conducting its activities by fulfilling the demands of the clients.”
He further said: “The clients feel secured to deposit their money in our Bank as it is hundred percent state-owned. As a result, number of clients is increasing day by day. Activities of the distribution of debt in agriculture and SME sector are also satisfactory.”
