Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) signed a MoU with Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) at a hotel in Dhaka on Thursday.

Under the MoU, pilgrims will be able to deposit their hajj and umrah money to 92 branches of the bank across the country, said a press release.

Masihul Huq Chowdhury, Additional Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited and Md. Ibrahim Bahar, President, HAAB signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.

 A seminar titled ‘Stress Management and Counseling” was organised by Mercantile Bank Training Institute for senior executives and branch managers of Mercantile Bank.

M. Ehsanul Haque, Managing Director and CEO of Mercantile Bank Limited, Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled, former deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank and Chair Professor of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management and S.A. Chowdhury, Chair Professor of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management were key speakers at the seminar.

Academician Fahmida Chowdhury of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management gave concluding speech.

Javed Tariq, Principal of Mercantile Bank Training Institute delivered the welcome address.

 Eastern Bank Limited was awarded the “Best Partner for Working Capital Systemic Solutions” by International Finance Corporation at the 6th Global Trade Partners Meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal recently.

The award was given to the bank as recognition to its innovative solutions for working capital financing to importers and counter party exporters including Offshore Bill Financing, said a press release. Georgina Baker, Head of IFC for Trade Finance and Supply Chain Solutions handed over the award to EBL Managing Director and CEO, Ali Reza Iftekhar at the function.

The banks, including Sonali, Janata, Agrani and Rupali, has been asked to keep open their branches to facilitate candidates

 The 430th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited

was held at the bank’s Board Room on Thursday.
