Azad for stronger banking sector for strengthening economy
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chembers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) AK Azad said that the economy of a country is much stronger whose banking industry has been strengthened enough.
Businessman and people of all walks of a country are directly linked with the banks, he said adding the bankers and employees of a bank can help turn any weak economy as a stronger one.
Azad, also a director of Shahjalal Islami Bank said this while inaugurating the 60th branch of the bank in Faridpur on Thursday, according to a press release.
Managing director of the bank Abdul Rahman Sarker presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Chairman of the bank Al-haj Mohammad Solaiman , deputy commissioner of Faridpur Helaluddin Ahmad and police super Md Aulad Ali Fakir were present at the function.
“Shahjalal Islami Bank would help boost the businesses in Faridpur district,” Azad expected adding: “The people of the region would be benefited a lot through the services of the branch of the bank.”
The chairman of the bank said that the ordinary people do not have access to banking system, but the of Shahjalal Bank would ensure better banking scopes for the people in the region through its modern banking system.
Md Abdul Rahman Sarker highlighted about banks deposit and investment schemes. Through this branch, the people of Faridpur will get the facility of daily banking investment in the promising sectors, he added.

EBL opens branch in Feni
Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) has opened a new branch at SSK Road at Feni town.
Muklesur Rahman, deputy managing director of EBL inaugurated the branch recently, said a press release.
The 46th SME and Agri branch of the bank will offer online banking facilities with wide range of SME and consumer loans and deposits.
Mohammad Musa, EVP and area head, consumer banking, Khurshed Alam, head of SME business, Ahmed Rashid Joy, head of medium business, Major Md Abdus Salam, psc, (retd), head of admin and security and other senior officials were also present during the inaugural ceremony.

UCBL opens branch at Dampara, Ctg
United Commercial Bank Limited (UCB), a lfirst generation private commercial bank, opened its 101st branch at Dampara in Chittagong yesterday.
Akhtaruzzaman howdhury (Babu), MP and sponsor director of UCB, inaugurated the branch while M Jahangir Alam Khan, chairman of the bank’s Audit Committee, among other directors, were present.
In the speech, Chowdhury, also the chairman of the Standing Committee for Textile and Jute Ministry, expressed his gratitude to the clients, businessmen, well-wishers and local communities of the port city.

Standard Bank opens branch in Patuakhali
Standard Bank Ltd has opened its 56th branch at Patuakhali recently.
Chairman of the Bank Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed inaugurated the branch at Sadar Road of the district town, said a press release.
S.A. Farooqui, managing director, Alauddin Al-Azad, deputy managing director of the bank and local business personalities were present on the occasion.

NCC Bank opens branch in Noakhali
NCC Bank Limited opened its 78th branch with online facility at Maijdee, Noakhali on Tuesday.
Vice Chairman of the bank Md Harunur Rashid MP formally inaugurated the branch as chief guest, said a press release.
