Banking services must reach rural areas of country

Razzak tells while opening MTB branch in Tangail

Minister for Food and Disaster Management Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzak, MP said that banking services must reach the rural areas of the country, where the common people reside.

He was addressing as the chief guest while inaugurating a SME/Agri branch of Mutual Trust Bank Ltd (MTB) at Dhanbari, Tangail on Tuesday.

Governor of the Bangladesh Bank Dr Atiur Rahman addressed the function as the guest of honour.

Dr Atiur Rahman said that banks in the country should expand their branch networks in rural areas of the country to have a balanced development of the economy, and, in this regard, Bangladesh Bank will provide all kind of support.

Among others, MTB Group chairman Samson H Chowdhury, managing director and CEO Anis A Khan and other senior officials of the bank were present at the event. A large number of leading businesspersons, customers, local elite, journalists and dignitaries attended the function.

“MTB is keenly interested to serve the underserved and un-served segment of the society with the wide spectrum of its products and services to augment economic development of the country and opening of a branch at Dhanbari is a manifestation of this endeavor.” said Samson H Chowdhury.

Anis A Khan said: “As part of its financial inclusion program, MTB has already introduced several products for agriculture, SMEs, women entrepreneurs etc and extended credit facilities to a large number of borrowers in these sectors, and the programme will be broadened in the days to come.”

NBL's New Branch in Tangail

National Bank Limited has launched their 140th Branch in Shikder Shopping Complex of Taltala Circle at Sokhipur upazilla in Tangail. The Chair of Executive Committee of the bank Ms. Parveen Haq Shikder inaugurated the branch as a chief guest last Sunday. Mr. Newaz Ahmed, the Managing Director of the bank chaired the inaugural ceremony.

Amongst other important personality Upazilla Chairman Mr. Shawkat Shikder, Mr. Khalilur Rahman, Chair, the business cooperative society and the manager of the bank Md. Abdul Hakim Miah delivered their speech.

New Branch of Shahjalal Islami Bank in Dinazpur

Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited launched their 57th branch in Goneshtala at Dinazpur. Additional Managing Director Mr. Mukhtar Hossen inaugurated the branch being a chief guest. The chairman of the inaugural ceremony was Md. Nazim Uddoula, Senior Vice President of the bank and the chief of Human Resource department. Other senior bank personnel and important local personalities were present in the program.

Mukhtar Hossen said that Shahjalal Islami Bank in trying to facilitate all people to access the modern banking facility and they are contributing in the expansion of business. Mukhtar Hossen also presented a brief picture of the Bank’s favorite “Amanat” and investment projects. He said, through the Dinazpur branch they will be able to contribute in all possible fields of prospect including everyday banking.

ONE Bank opens branch in Narsingdi

ONE Bank Limited has opened a new branch at Madhabdi Bazar in Nasingdi recently.

Zahur Ullah, Chairman of ONE Bank Limited, formally inaugurated the branch at an inaugural ceremony held at its premises, said a press release.

Kazi Rukunuddin Ahm- ed, Director, Farman R Chowdhury, Managing Director, Senior Executives of the bank and many local elites and businessmen attended the inaugural function.

DBBL opens Fast Track ATM service

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) inaugurated Fast Track ATM at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University campus in the capital recently.

Professor Dr Md Shah-E-Alam, vice-chancellor of the university, inaugurated the service by withdrawing cash from the booth, said a press release.

Through this Fast Track ATM, customers including students and teachers of the campus would be able to avail themselves of banking services for round the clock and 365 days a year.

The customers would also be able to deposit money through a cash deposit machine installed there, collect and replace debit and credit cards.

Reporting of lost card, collecting cheque books, PIN (personal identification number) collection and reissue, internet banking, SMS and alert banking would be among the other services of the Fast Track.

Officials of the bank would be present at the booth from 9 am to 9 pm every day to assist the customers during cash withdrawal and deposit funds, fill-in the account opening forms and retail loan application forms and credit card application forms.

Mohammad Ali, registrar of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, KS Tabrez, managing director of the bank, and students of the university, among others, were present in the function.
