Anwar Hossain Khan, Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank, presides over a board meeting at its board room in Dhaka recently.

The 166th meeting of the board of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) was held at its board room in Dhaka recently.

Anwar Hossain Khan, Chairman of the board of the bank, presided over the meeting, said a press release.

During the meeting, the board approved a number of investment proposals and discussed various issues relating to policy matters of the bank.

Ishtiaque Ahmed Chowdhury has been promoted to Managing Director and CEO of Trust Bank Limited.
In addition to his new assignment, he will work as Managing Director for Trust Bank Investment Limited, a subsidiary of Trust Bank, said a press release. Prior to his new position, he was Deputy Managing Director of the bank.

He started his banking career as Probationary Officer at Rupali Bank in 1977. He completed his MA and LLB from Dhaka University.

He is the Secretary General of Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB), Treasurer of Childhood Cancer Society and life member of Dhaka University Alumni Association, Gulshan Society and Jalalabad Association, permanent member of Dhanmondi Club Limited and Station Club Limited, Sylhet.

United Commercial Bank has launched its mobile financial services ‘UCASH’ with the slogan ‘Akash Chowa Sheba’.

The bank has signed its first agreement with mobile operator Robi Axiata for providing the services to the unbanked people of the country, said a news release. 

UCB managing director Muhammed Ali and Robi Axiata chief executive officer Michael Kuehner signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides. 

Additional managing directors of UCB M Shahidul Islam and Mirza Mahmud Rafiqur Rahman, Semicon Pvt MD Kazi Mahfuzul Karim, Robi Axiata country head of digital services Rozano Marius Planta, among others, were present in the programme. 

All Robi customers registered with UCASH will be able to avail UCASH services of UCB through USSD, IVR which ensure transaction security, the release added. 

KS Tabrez, Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited, speaks at a branch managers’ conference at the bank’s head office in Dhaka Saturday.

The Managers’ Conference-2013 of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) was held on Saturday to review the bank’s performance for 2012 and the business plan for 2013.

Mentionable, Islami Bank was awarded the best award in mini pavilion category at the International Trade Fair 2012.
