DBBL gives Tk 7m to Kachi-Kanchar Mela

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) donated Tk 7 million to Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela, a children’s cultural organisation, for repairing its building at Segunbagicha.

Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the board of DBBL, handed over a cheque to Dr. ATM Shamsul Huda, Chairman of the Trustee Board of Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela, at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently, said a press release.

Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela and KS Tabrez, Managing Director of DBBL, attended the function.

SAFA awards 1st prize to IBBL

slami Bank Bangladesh Limited was awarded 1st prize of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in corporate governance and 1st runner-up prize for the best presented annual report category.

The awards were handed over at a ceremony in Colombo, Sri Lanka, said a press release.

Senior accountants of SAARC countries, directors and top executives of different commercial organisations participated at the function.

Nine institutions of SAARC countries were considered for the award at 10 categories including banking and non-banking financial institutions, insurance, manufacturing, communication and information technology.

Some 15 banks across the SAARC countries were selected to participate at the competition.

BDBL earns Tk 1.04bn profit in 2012 Bank’s MD said at branch managers’ confce

Sayem Ahmed, Chairman of the EC of DBBL, hands over a cheque to Dr. ATM Shamsul Huda, Chairman of the Trustee Board of Kendria Kachi-Kanchar Mela, at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently.

 

Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) earned Tk 1.04 billion profit in 2012.

It collected deposits of Tk 7.95 billion in the year and distributed Tk 4.61 billion SME and personal loans, OD and shot-term loan to its customers.

Dr Zillur Rahman, Managing Director of BDBL, said this while presiding over Branch Managers’ Conference-2013 at a hotel in Dhaka Thursday.

Dr M Aslam Alam, Secretary of Banking and Financial Institutions Division of the Finance Ministry was present as chief guest, said a press release.

Prof Shanti Narayan Ghosh, Chairman of Board of Directors of the bank was present as guest of honour. Dewan Nurul Islam, Kazi Morshed Hossian Kamal, Advocate Md Abdus Salam, Prof Dr Rustam Ali Ahmed and Khalilur Rahman Siddiqui, directors of board of directors of the bank were present as special guests at the function.

DBBL will play significant role to the economic development of the country, Dr S Aslam said adding, the bank will ensure better services to its customers.

BASIC holds foundation training course

BASIC Bank has organised a month-long 17th foundation training course for its officials held at the bank’s training institute in Dhaka Saturday.

Kanak Kumar Purkayastha, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the bank inaugurated the training course, said a press release.

Principal of the training institute and Deputy General Manager of BASIC Bank M. Kamran Hamid and Vice-Principal of the institute Asoke Bandhu Das attended the inaugural function, among others.

Some 39 officials of BASIC Bank participated in the training course.

Bank Asia gets 2 vice chairs

Md Lakiotullah, Nurul Islam Anu

Mohammed Lakiotullah was re-elected and Nurul Islam Anu newly elected vice chairmen of Bank Asia.

The election was held at a meeting of the board of directors of the bank in Dhaka recently, said a press release.

Md Lakiotullah was the founder managing director of Exim Bank where he served for eight years.

During his 43 years banking career, he worked as managing director of Jamuna Bank Limited.

Nurul Islam was a director of National Bank Ltd and chairman of its Audit Committee from 2003-2008.

He joined Bank Asia as a director in 2008 after he was elected chairman of the Audit Committee and vice chairman of its Executive Committee.

He has been a visionary innovator in bank policy formulation and its effective implementation.

Nurul Islam, a former private secretary to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is an Advisor of Finance of OPEX Sinha Group.
