Bank Asia holds orientation on Islamic banking

Bank Asia Limited organised a day-long orientation programme on 'Islamic Banking' at its Corporate Office in Dhaka on Saturday.

Some 28 heads of branches participated in the programme, said a press release.

The programme was organised to give a brief idea about Islamic banking, its products as well as 'Salamah' Islamic Banking of Bank Asia.

Md. Mehmood Husain, President and Managing Director of Bank Asia inaugurated the programme as chief guest.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of irectors of the bank, Afzalul Haq, Vice President and Head of Islamic Banking Division, AKM Mizanur Rahman, Vice President and all executives and officials of Islamic banking division, corporate office were also present.

Aminul Islam, Deputy Managing Director of Bank Asia, distributed certificates to the participants.

Trust Bank opens branch in Kushtia

JBL honors title holder FFs in Barisal

Md. Emdadul Haque, Director, Janata Bank Limted, hands over a cheque to a title holder Freedom Fighter at a function at BDS Auditorium in Barisal recently.

 

 The state-owned Janata Bank Limited distributed financial assistance to 22 title holder Freedom Fighters (FFs) for their outstanding contributions in the War of Liberation in 1971 in Barisal.

The financial assistance was distributed in three categories. Of them, very poor category were provided Tk 350,000, poor category Tk 2,00,000 and low-middle class category received Tk 1,00,000 on the basis of financial ability, said a press release.

Janata Bank organised the function where Director of Janata Bank Md. Emdadul Haque spoke. Advocate Balaram Podder was present as special guest at the function.

DMD of Janata Bank Omar Faruk chaired the function.

GM Md. Golam Faruk and Zafor Ahmed, Md. Mossaddek-Ul-Alom, Company Secretary delivered the welcome speech.

SIJBL holds EC meet

Md. Sanaullah Shahid, Vice-Chairman of the EC of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, presides over the 546th Executive Committee (EC) meeting at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently.

The members of the committee discussed various issues relating to investment in different sectors.

Saifuddin made DMD of Jamuna Bank

AKM Saifuddin Ahmed was promoted to Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Jamuna Bank Limited.

Prior to his new assignment, he was the founding executive of Jamuna Bank Ltd since the inception of the bank, said a press release. After completing his Masters in Marketing from the Dhaka University, Saifuddin started his banking career in 1984 as probationary officer of National Bank Limited.

During his 29 years of banking career, he worked in National Bank and Exim Bank in different key positions at branch and head office levels including international banking, global trade services, treasury, financial crime and AML compliance, and NRB banking.

He visited USA, UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, South Korea, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Kuwait, Germany, France, and Italy.
