BDBL goes into online banking tomorrow
Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) is going to introduce online banking services at three of its branches from tomorrow.
The move came as part of BDBL’s plan of introducing fully automated banking services from June this year, a BDBL release said here today.
Managing Director of the Bangladesh Development Bank Dr M Zillur Rahman informed this while inaugurating a workshop on ‘SME Financing’ in the Bank’s conference room.
He said the Bank’s provision surplus reached to Taka 50 crore within two years of its journey though the Bank initially started with huge loan burden.
Rahman mentioned that Bangladesh Development Bank would concentrate more and more on SME financing to help create employment.
General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Sukamal Sinha Choudhury, who spoke on the occasion as chief guest, emphasized on financing the SME sector, especially the women entrepreneurs.
He assured to provide all sorts of support for SME financing from the central bank on continuous basis.

'SIBL@ i bank' launched
Social Islami Bank Limited Wednesday launched "SIBL@ i bank" with a view to provide web-based Internet Banking services to its customer from anywhere anytime. Under this service customers can check their account balance, print account statement, place cheque book request, inquire cheque status, transfer fund with allied accounts and also pay utility bills.
Muhammed Ali, managing director of the Bank said that in its journey towards continuous excellence, SIBL has stepped forward in boundary less banking services, any where, any time in which specially valued expatriate Bangladeshi wage earners living and working in different countries can now check their accounts with SIBL and perform various transactions which shall ease their anxieties.
He emphasized that SIBL will grow to become the best technology- friendly bank in the country and will use all modern banking channels to deliver most wonderful and satisfying services to its valued customers.
He has also said the SIBL has focused on the latest technological development to become the Bank of choice for the technology loving future generations of the country to take forward the country to a new era of modern and dynamic bank. Among others, DMDs Md Shafiqur Rahman, AMM Farhad, Mohammad Mohashin Miah and senior executives of Head Office were present in the programme.

Mobile banking at all UISCs
All the 4501 Union Information Service Centers (UISCs) of the country will be brought under mobile banking services in the next three months to reach banking services to the rural people.
“A total of 1500 UISCs have already been brought under mobile banking services and the remaining 3001 UISCs will be brought within next three months,” National Project Director of Support to Digital Bangladesh (A2I) Md Nazrul Islam Khan told newsmen at an MoU signing ceremony.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the Local Government Division (LGD), UNDP supported A2I Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office and One Bank Limited at the PMO today.
Md Nazrul Islam Khan, Joint Secretary of LGD Shamima Nargis and Managing Director of One Bank Limited Farman R Chowdhury signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

Pubali goes big in online banking
Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, managing director of Pubali Bank, attends a press conference in the capital yesterday where he announced plans to launch the Bank's internet banking service today.
Pubali Bank has brought its 310 branches under online network and plans to bring the remaining 100 branches under the network in phases, the Bank said in a statement yesterday.
The Bank looks to establish its own ATM network with 1,000 ATM booths across the country and set up 100 such booths this year.
The Bank also plans to launch internet banking services using its own software today.
The announcement came at a press meet in the capital yesterday where the Bank's Managing Director Helal Ahmed Chowdhury and Additional Managing Director MA Halim Chowdhury were present.
Pubali Bank started its transition from the traditional manual banking operation to computerised banking services in 1991 with vendor provided software, according to the statement.
In 2004, the Bank started replacing the software with its in-house developed branch banking software, Pubali Integrated Banking System.
In 2008, the branch banking software was converted to core banking software which was evaluated by Price-waterhouseCoopers
Pvt Ltd, India, and the Bank computerised all its branches with the software.
On the same year, the Bank started launching online banking system at its selected branches.

Prime Bank launches internet banking

Prime Bank has been enhancing technology usage in its banking services with the demand of time.
Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited Md. Ehsan Khasru said at a press conference at a city hotel on the eve of launching ‘Altitude’ internet banking service recently.
The IT division of the Bank developed the software, he said adding, “This is secure, safer and faster than the internet banking used by the other Banks of the industry.”
