RAKUB soon to enter online banking era

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) will soon be connected with the online banking activities as an effort to going ahead amidst the present time of gradually increasing demands.

The bank management expects that the electronic banking will facilitate to improve services to the clients in general. Already, the branch managers and zonal managers were given necessary instructions for introducing computerization system as early as possible.

With this in view, the bank management held an orientation meeting on software for all 18 zonal managers and 84 selected branch managers and other officers and staffs concerned at Nanking Darbar Hall in the city yesterday.

RAKUB, headquartered in Rajshahi, has been operating its banking activities as the largest development partner in all 16 northwest districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions targeting its agricultural sector and all its sub-sectors.

Addressing the orientation as the chief guest, Mofazzal Hossain, Managing Director of RAKUB, painted importance of the online banking and asked all the officials concerned to take necessary measures in this regard.

“We have no way but to enter into the online banking era to exist in the modern and competitive banking system,” he said adding that the clients also should be familiarized with the modern system.

With Deputy General Manager Golam Mostofa in the chair, Deputy Managing Director Abu Hanif Khan, General Manager (Rajshahi division) Abdul Khaleque Khan, General Manager (Rangpur division) Habibur Rahman and General Manager (Audit, Accounts and Recovery) Nishit Kumar Shaha also spoke on the occasion

MTB okays 10pc stock dividend

Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) approved 10 percent stock dividend for its shareholders for the year ended on December, 2012.


The approval was given at the 14th annual general meeting (AGM) of the bank held at Bashundhara R/A in the city Monday, said a press release.


Dr. Arif Dowla, Chairman of MTB, presided over the meeting.


Syed Manzur Elahi, Founding Chairman, Rashed A Chowdhury, Vice Chairman, MA Rouf JP, Md Abdul Malek, Md Wakiluddin, Anjan Chowdhury and QAFM Serajul Islam, Directors, Anis A Khan,

Managing Director and CEO, Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director and Company Secretary and a large number of shareholders of the bank attended the meeting.


In 2012, MTB earned net profit after tax amounting to Tk 327.86 million and the value of assets was Tk 78,806.55 million.


The bank reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 1.29. The balance-sheet footing of the bank increased by 22 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year.


The bank’s deposits have marked a growth by 27.3 percent in the year, while loans and advances moved higher by 20.2 percent.

The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) maintained a 10.70 percent rise in the year compared to the required rate of 10 percent.


In his speech, Arif Dowla thanked the shareholders, customers, patrons, well-wishers, regulators, directors and staff for their support extended over the past year, one of the most tumultuous years in the banking sector.


A number of shareholders spoke at the meeting lauding the performance of the bank.

They also raised various queries which were later addressed by the Managing Director and CEO of the bank.
MTB expanded its branch network to 86 and MTB Securities Ltd branch network to 18.

DBBL declares 40pc cash div

Abedur Rashid Khan, Chairman, Board of Directors of Dutch Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL), seen along with other directors at the 17th AGM of the bank at a hotel in Dhaka recently.

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) declares cash dividend of 40 percent, meaning Tk 4 per share of Taka 10 each, for the local shareholders and foreign sponsors and shareholders for the year 2012.

The declaration was announced at the 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank at a hotel in Dhaka recently, said a press release. Abedur Rashid Khan, Chairman, Board of Directors of the bank presided over the meeting. The Chairman welcomed the members present in the AGM.

As per the decision of the AGM, the local sponsors of the bank will not receive any dividend.

During the AGM, a prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the deceased garment workers and employees and early recovery of the injured in the tragic collapse of Rana Plaza building at Savar.

Sayem Ahmed, Chairman, Executive Committee of the Board, Md. Fakhrul Islam, Dr. Irshad Kamal Khan, Chowdhury M. Ashraf Hossain, Md. Yeasin Ali, Directors, KS Tabrez, MD and Md. Monirul Alam, FCS, Company Secretary, M. Sahabuddin Ahmed, founder of Dutch-Bangla Bank and Chairman of Dutch-Bangla Bank Foundation were also present in the meeting.

The financial statement of the bank for the year ended December 31, 2012 was approved in the AGM.

Bank Asia opens branch in Munshiganj
