SJIBL holds founding anniversary

Md. Abdur Rahman Sarker, Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, cuts a cake to inaugurate the 12th founding anniversary of the bank at the bank's head office recently.

 

Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. (SJIBL) celebrated its 12th founding anniversary at its head office recently.

Md. Abdur Rahman Sarker, Managing Director of the bank, inaugurated the ceremony cutting a cake, said a press release.

Md. Abdul Jabber Chowdhury, Md. Setaur Rahman and Khondoker Nayeemul Kabir Deputy Managing Directors of SJIBL with other officials of head office from different divisions were present on the occasion.

Pubali Bank managers' conference held

Habibur Rahman, Vice-Chairman of Pubali Bank Limited, speaks at the 2nd conference of Regional and Corporate Branch Managers for the year 2013 at the bank's head office in Dhaka on Saturday.

The 2nd conference of the Regional and Corporate Branch Managers of Pubali Bank Limited for the year 2013 was held at the head office of the bank on Saturday.

Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Managing Director of the bank presided over the meeting, said a press release.

Habibur Rahman, Vice-Chairman, Board of Directors, Syed Moazzem Hussain, Director and Chairman of Executive Committee, Md Faizur Rahman, Director, M.A. Halim Chowdhury, AMD, Safiul Alam Khan Chowdhury, DMD, general managers and other senior executives of head office were also present on the occasion.

The chief guest urged all to expand foreign remittance business through better customer and modern banking services. He also advised to work hard, look for new business avenues and diversification and to take concerted efforts for achieving the target fixed for the year 2013.

BB restricts bank accounts of Rana Plaza factories

The central bank yesterday asked all commercial banks not to disburse any money from the bank accounts of the directors of the four garment factories in the collapsed Rana Plaza at Savar.
Bangladesh Bank also asked the banks to send balance statements of the accounts to the regulator by May 14.
The four garment factories have 21 directors: Bazlus Samad, Mahmudur Rahman, Delwar Ahmed, AR Ayub Hossain, Md Delwar Hossain of New Wave Bottoms Ltd;

Nazim Uddin and Aleya Begum of Phantom Apparels Ltd; ABM Siddique, Suraiya Begum and Md Aminul Islam of Phantom Apparels Ltd and Phantom Tech Ltd;

Devid Mayour Rico and Amirul Islam Mahmud of Phantom Tech Ltd; Md Anisur Rahman, Mahbubul Alam, Jesmine Alam Bibha, Md Nazrul Islam, Mosammat Maryam,

Md Jannatul Ferdous, Md Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, Md Rafiqul Hasan and Md Monwar Hossain of Ether Tex Ltd.
Earlier on April 30,

the central bank slapped ban on withdrawal of money from the bank accounts of Sohel Rana and managing directors of the four garment factories.
However, the letter said money could be withdrawn from the account only for the purpose of paying salaries and allowances to the workers.

Bank Asia holds seminar on business, marketing

Md Mehmood Husain, President and Managing Director of Bank Asia, along with participants seen at the bank’s training institute at Panthapath in Dhaka recently.

 

Bank Asia organised a day-long seminar on business, management and marketing at the bank’s training institute at Panthapath in the capital recently.

The aim of the seminar is to explore avenues and run business in different approach rather than conventional style, said a press release.

A total of 25 executives of the bank took part in the seminar.
