BB launches financial literacy programme

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has launched ‘Financial Literacy’ programme to educate people about financial activities, specially the basic banking services.

“Financial inclusion needs to be intensified for establishing economic stability and expansion of financial literacy can play a significant role in this regard,” said BB Governor Dr Atiur Rahman while inaugurating the programme here today.

He said the first chapter of the financial literacy programme has been designed taking the requirements of people, especially school-college going students, women, poor people in rural areas and senior citizens in account. “Efforts will be there to give people who are out of banking services information and encourage them to take banking services,” he added.

The governor said under the financial literacy project, steps have been taken to carry out massive campaign through radio, TV and newspapers. Besides, there will also be an especial link in BB’s website which has been designed with features, stories and video games to help people of different ages including children learn about financial activities.

Pubali Bank donates Tk 60 lakh for welfare of autistic students

Rumana Sharif, Director of Pubali Bank Ltd, hands over a cheque for Tk 60 lakh to a student of Society for the Welfare of Autistic Children at a function at Pubali Bank head office recently.

 

Pubali Bank Ltd donated Tk 60 lakh to Society for the Welfare of Autistic Children (SWAC).

Rumana Sharif, Director of the bank handed over the cheque to Emon, a student of SWAC, said a press release.

Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder, Chairman, Board of Directors, Habibur Rahman, MP, Vice-Chairman, Moniruddin Ahmed, Syed Moazzem Hussain, M. Faizur Rahman,

Ahmed Shafi Choudhury, Suraiya Rahman, Musa Ahmed, Azizur Rahman, Directors and Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, MD and Eng. Anwar Hossain, Chairman, SWAC were present on the occasion.

SWAC is a non-government, non-political, non-profit and voluntary organisation. The aim of this organisation is to develop excellent facilities for the special education,

training and rehabilitation of individuals with autism within a structured, happy and caring environment and secure them to achieve their maximum potential.

SIBL branch at Akhaura opens

Anisul Hoque, Chairman of Social Islami Bank Limited, inaugurates a branch of the bank at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria on Saturday.

Social Islami Bank Limited (SIBL) opened its 87th branch at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria on Saturday.

Anisul Hoque, Chairman of the board of directors of the bank, inaugurated the branch as chief guest, said a press release.

Md Shafiqur Rahman, Managing Director of the bank, presided over the function.

Nat’l Bank donates Tk 10 crore to PM’s relief fund

Parveen Haque Sikder, Director and Chairperson, Executive Committee of National Bank Limited, hands over a cheque for Tk 10 crore to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for rehabilitation of Savar Rana Plaza victims, at PM’s office in Dhaka on Tuesday.

National Bank Limited (NBL) donated Tk 10 crore to Prime Minister’s relief fund for rehabilitation of the families of Savar victims at a function at Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Parveen Haque Sikder, Director and Chairperson, Executive Committee of National Bank Limited handed over the cheque to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said a press release.

The money has been donated as a part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank, Neaz ahmed, Managing Director & CEO, National Bank Limited and Md. Nazrul Islam Mazumder, Chairman, Bangladesh Association of Banks were present on the occasion.

DBBL donates Tk 11.27cr to PM’s relief fund

Abedur Rashid, Chairman of Board of Directors of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited hands over a cheque for Tk 11.27 crore to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for rehabilitation of Savar Rana Plaza victims at the PMO in Dhaka on Tuesday.

 

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) on Tuesday donated Tk. 11.27 crore to Prime Minister’s relief fund to help Savar Rana Plaza tragedy victims.

The bank earlier announced that it will give Tk 1 lakh to each of the families of the garment workers who were killed in the tragedy, said a press release.

Abedur Rashid Khan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DBBL handed over the cheque to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office.

AMA Muhith, Finance Minister, Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank, KS Tabrez, Managing Director of the bank, Dr. M. Aslam Alam, Secretary, Banking and Financial Division, SK Sur Chowdhury, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Nazrul islam Majumder, Chairman of the Bangladesh Association of Banks were also present on the occasion.
