Bank Asia Higher Studies Scholarship handed over at Lohagara, Chittagong

As a part of its corporate social responsibility, Bank Asia has provided higher studies scholarship to 17(seventeen) insolvent meritorious students of Lohagara Upazila of Chittagong recently, says a press release.

Mr. Md Mehmood Husain, President & Managing Director of the Bank handed over the scholarship to the students at a function held at a local hotel.Deputy Managing Director and Zonal Head of the Bank Mr.Mohammed Roshangir, EVP and Head of Agarbad Branch Mr. Md. Shahabullah, AVP & Head of Lohagara Branch Mr. Mohamamd Azizul Hoque and formerUpazila Chairman of Lohagara Mr. Ziaul Haque Chowdhurywere,among others, present.

 A large number of people including students, teachers, businessmen and local elite attended the function. It may be mentioned that Bank Asia gives scholarships for higher study to the meritorious students in therural areas, where the Bank has branches.A total of 194 (one hundred ninety-four) students have beenselected for Bank Asia Higher Studies Scholarship for the year 2013.

Bank Asia hands over Higher Studies Scholarship in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj -As a part of its corporate social responsibility, Bank Asia has provided higher studies scholarshipto 7 (seven) insolvent meritorious students of Tarail Upazila of Kishoreganj district on Saturday, reports inpress release.

M. Irfan Syed, Director of the Bank handed over the scholarship money to the students at afunction held at Bank Asia Tarail Branch premises. Deputy Managing Director of the Bank Md. Arfan Ali,Deputy Secretary Md. Kamrul Hassan, Head of Bhairab Branch Gobinda Kumar Biswas, Manager Operations ofTarail Branch Prasanta Kumar Pandit and Principal of Tarail Muktijodha College ATM Mostafa were, amongothers, present.

Bank Asia Higher Studies Scholarship handed over at Mohadevpur, Naogaon

As a part of its corporate social responsibility, Bank Asia has provided higher studies scholarship to 21(twenty-one) insolvent meritorious students of Mohadevpur Upazila of Naogaon district recently, reports in press release. A.M. Nurul Islam, Vice Chairman of the Bank handed over the scholarship money to students at a function held at Mohadevpur Upazila auditorium recently.

BKB staff not to get new pay scale

As a specialised bank it is proposed to bring under a separate pay scale like Bangladesh Bank and state-run commercial banksThe employees of sate-owned Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) are not going to enjoy any new pay scale and have to remain satisfied with the existing one.


Banking Division Secretary M Aslam Alam told it to the Dhaka Tribune yesterday as the specialised bank proposed to bring it under a separate pay scale like Bangladesh Bank and state-run commercial banks.“The government pays salaries to BKB staff while the state-run commercial banks make the payments from their profits and are controlled by board of directors,” said the secretary.

The BKB chairman recently sent a proposal to finance ministry to bring the specialised bank’s employees under the new pay structure approved for the four state banks.BKB is a fully government-owned specialised bank in the country to provide loan facilities to the farmers for their agricultural products.The bank was established under the Bangladesh Krishi Bank Order 1973 (President’s Order No 27 of 1973).Since its inception, BKB has been providing financial service to the country’s agricultural sector. It operatescommercial banking alongside its usual activities.

After the law ministry’s clearance, Finance Minister AMA Muhith last week directed the banking division to expedite the implementation process of the new salary structures for Bangladesh Bank and state banks.

A Rouf Chowdhury was re-elected Chairman of Bank Asia at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the held on Monday (31 March, 2014). He is a sponsor Director of the Bank., in a press release Chowdhury is an eminent businessman and industrialist of the country.

He is the Chairman of Rangs and Sea Resources Group. He is also a Director of the Daily Star, the highest circulated English daily in the Chowdhury was the President of Basket Ball Association for four years. He has been a member of Committee for Kurmitola Golf Club for over twenty years.

Mr. Chowdhury has been actively associated with many social activities.
