Prime Bank gets new chairman, vice-chair

Tanjil Chowdhury and Imran Khan have been made Chairman and vice chairman of the Prime Bank Limited respectively recently.

The board of directors of Prime Bank Limited in a recent meeting unanimously elected Tanjil Chowdhury and Imran Khan as the chairman and vice chairman of the Executive Committee of the bank effective from June 1, said a pres release Saturday.

Tanjil Chowdhury, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Prime Bank Limited is the Managing Director of East Coast Group of Companies, a diversified conglomerate with primary focus on Oil & Energy.

Islami Bank works for welfare of people MD tells at Business Development Confce

Islami Bank has been working for the welfare of all people and providing services not for making profits only, rather for fulfilling the basic needs of the people.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managiging Director of the bank said while speaking at the Business Development Conference-2013 at a local hotel in Sylhet on Friday.

Sylhet zone of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited organised the conference.

Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Managing Director of the bank was present in the conference as chief guest, said a press release.

Md. Abdur Rahman Banarjee, Executive Vice President and Head of Bank’s Sylhet Zone, presided over the function.

Executive Vice President and Head of Financial Administration Division Mohammad Nesar Uddin, FCA, FCMA, Senior Vice President Md. Siddiqur Rahman and Vice President ASM Rezul Karim spoke on the overall business performances of the bank at the programme.

Besides, Md. Abdus Sadeque Bhuiyan, EVP and Head of branches Control Division and Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin Jasim, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Promotion and Marketing Division were present.

In his speech, Mohammad Abdul Mannan said that Islami Bank has been working since its inception for the welfare of all people and added the bank has been providing services not merely for making profits rather for fulfilling the basic needs of the people.

He said Islami Bank is playing the key role in bringing hard-earned income of expatriate Bangladeshi’s to the country through banking channel. ‘Rural Development Scheme’ is an example of IBBL’s unique service for poverty alleviation.

The Bank is greatly contributing in expanding employment oriented, import-substitute and export oriented sectors, he added.

FSIBL sponsors science congress in Dhaka

A two-day First Security Islami Bank-BFF Children Science Congress 2013 was held at United International University at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Friday.

First Security Islami Bank Ltd (FSIBL) was the title sponsor of the programme, said a press release.

A total of 270 students from 110 institutions of 30 districts participated at the science congress.

Of the participants, 40 will be selected for First Jagadis Chandra Bose Science Camp.

Mercantile Bank marks 14th anniversary

Mercantile Bank Limited will award Mercantile Bank Achievement Award 2013 on the occasion of the 14th anniversary.

The bank will observe 14th anniversary at Pan Pacific Sonagaon Hotel today (Sunday) where nine listed personnel and one organisation will be awarded for their contributions in their respective fields.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will hand over the awards as chief guest.

The announcement came from a press briefing that the bank management made ahead of the 14th anniversary of the bank at the bank’s Head Office in Dhaka on Saturday. M Amanullah, Chairman of the bank, presided over the press briefing, said a press release.

M Ehsanul Haque, Managing Director and CEO of Mercantile Bank, Directors, Senior Executives of the bank and Entrepreneurs attended the function.

M Amanullah presented the list of nine virtuous personnel and 1 organisation for the Mercantile Bank Achievement Award-2013.

The persons selected for the awards are Dr. AM Harun Ur Rashid – Education, Prof Rashiduddin Ahmad – Medical, Feroza Begum – Culture, Lt. Col. (Retd) Kazi Sajjad Ali Zahir Bir Protik,

Research on Liberation War, Dr. Humayun Ahmed (post humus), Bangla language and literature, Anisur Rahman Sinha,

Industry and Trade, Mahfuz Anam, Journalism, Nishat Majumder, Sports, and Sree Kartik Chandra Pramanik, Agricultural research and development and the organisation is Bangladesh Rice Research Institute – Science and Technology.

These virtuous personnel will be awarded gold medal, cash and a crest as recognition.

BRAC Bank signs payroll deal with Panna Group

BRAC Bank Limited signed a payroll agreement with Panna Group in Dhaka recently.

As per the agreement, BRAC Bank will provide payroll related services including salary disbursement, loan facility and credit card facility to Panna Group employees, said a press release.

Firoz Ahmed Khan, Head of Retail Banking of BRAC Bank, and Al-haj Md Lokman Hossain, Managing Director of Panna Group, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
