Bank Asia sings MoU with Urban Design

Bank Asia Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Urban Design and Development Ltd (UDDL), in order to provide house finance support to intended individual borrower at the corporate office of the bank in Dhaka recently.

Md. Mehmood Husain, President and Managing Director of Bank Asia, and Nazim Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of UDDL signed the agreement on behalf of respective sides.

Al-Arafah Bank chairman, vice chairman re-elected

Alhajj Abdus Samad Labu and Alhajj Abdul Malek Mollah have been re-elected as chairman and vice-chairman of Executive Commitee of Board of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd at the bank's 240th meeting held recently. 

Alhajj Abdus Samad Labu and Alhajj Abdul Malek Mollah have been re-elected as chairman and vice-chairman of Executive Commitee of Board of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd at the bank's 240th meeting held recently. 
Alhajj Abdus Samad Labu is one of the founder director of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd. He is the vice chairman of S Alam Group, chairman of S Alam Cold Rolled Steels Ltd.


Alhajj Abdul Malek Mollah is also one of the founder director of the Bank.

He is the founder of Molla Trading Ltd, one of the founder Trustees of The Asia Pacific University of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Islamic University and founder of Green University of Bangladesh.

Janata Bank honours FFs

Prof Dr. Abul Barakat, Chairman of Janata Bank Limited and Belal Mohammad, honours a freedom fighter in Chittagong on Saturday.

Janata Bank Limited (JBL) accorded a reception to 36 title-holding freedom fighters and their family members in Chittagong on Saturday.

Belal Mohammad, organiser, Shadin Bangla Betar Kendra attended the reception as chief guest, said a press release.

Prof Dr. Abul Barakat, Chairman, Md. Emdadul Hoque, Nagibul Islam Dipu, Professor Md. Moinuddin, Md. Abu Naser, Sangita Ahmed, Professor Dr. Nitai Chandra Nag, Directors of the bank and Md. Abdul Mannan, DC, Chittagong were also present on the occasion.

The reception ceremony was presided over by A K M Ashraf Uddin Khan, DMD (CEO and MD-Current Charge) of the bank.

BB launches financial literacy programme

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has launched ‘Financial Literacy’ programme to educate people about financial activities, specially the basic banking services.

“Financial inclusion needs to be intensified for establishing economic stability and expansion of financial literacy can play a significant role in this regard,” said BB Governor Dr Atiur Rahman while inaugurating the programme here today.

He said the first chapter of the financial literacy programme has been designed taking the requirements of people, especially school-college going students, women, poor people in rural areas and senior citizens in account. “Efforts will be there to give people who are out of banking services information and encourage them to take banking services,” he added.

The governor said under the financial literacy project, steps have been taken to carry out massive campaign through radio, TV and newspapers. Besides, there will also be an especial link in BB’s website which has been designed with features, stories and video games to help people of different ages including children learn about financial activities.
