Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) arranged a weeklong training course on ‘SME Financing’ for its officials at BDBL Bhaban in Karwan Bazar in the city recently.

MD Dilwar Hossain Bhuiyan, deputy managing director of BDBL, inaugurated the training session as chief guest, said a press release.

Eng Md Rezaul Karim, deputy general manager and head of training, Md Muzibur Rahman, assistant general manager and Shahnaz Parveen, senior principal officer of BDBL were also present at inaugural function of the training course.

Janata Bank Limited (JBL) has distributed 500 blankets among the cold-hit people in Kushtia recently.

Professor Dr Abul Barkat, chairman of the Bank, distributed the blankets where Md Abdul Jabbar, deputy general manager (DGM) and other officials of the Bank’s Kushtia branch were also present, said a press release. JBL has a plan to distribute about 7,000 blankets in Rangpur, Sirajgonj, Dinaj pur, Gopalgonj, Rajbari, Comilla, Narsingdi, Mymensing, Laxmipur and Dhaka city.

Sonali Bank has disbursed Tk 4.83 million among the poor at Kachua upazila in Chandpur under a project titled “poverty alleviation and ideal village”.

The project aims at creating self- employment opportunities for the poor and vulnerable segment of the society, said a press release.

An 11-day ‘foundation training course’ on banking for the officials of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) began at the Bank’s training centre in the city on Sunday.

Md Abdur Rahman Sarker, managing director of the Bank, formally inaugurated the course as chief guest, said a press release.

Md Mukhter Hossain, additional managing director, Nazimuddoula, executive vice-president (EVP) and head of human resource development (HRD) of SJIBL and Md Fariduddin Ahmed, managing director of EXIM Bank were also present on the occasion.

The SME Service Centre of Bank Asia Ltd at Ramgonj in Laxmipur was converted into a full-fledged SME/Agri branch from Sunday.
