Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. (IBBL) observed its 29th founding anniversary in Gopalganj on Wednesday last. Attending as chief guest at the ceremony Md. Matiur Rahman, additional district commissioner, inaugurated the 29th founding anniversary of IBBL, says a press release.
After inaugurating the founding day, Md. Jahangir Alam, assistant vice-president and manager of IBBL, presided over a discussion meeting at the office of IBBL’s Gopalganj Branch.
Among others, Sarder Rokonuzzaman, additional police super, and Md. Raja Miah, acting president of Awami league of Gopalganj district, were present at the meeting as special guests.

Hemant Mishr, head of global markets, South Asia and co-head of wholesale bank, India for Standard Chartered Bank will arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday for a two-day official visit. He will be meeting regulators, clients and senior officials of the bank during his visit, says a press release.
As a member of the wholesale banking leadership team, he is jointly accountable for the wholesale strategic leadership, performance and governance.
His responsibility encompasses trading and sales across asset class like Fixed Income, Credit, Commodities and Equity. In addition, he is also responsible for Debt Capital Markets and management of the bank’s balance sheet.

The board of directors of ONE Bank Limited has reelected Zahur Ullah as its chairman for another one year term from March 28, 2011. The board has also reelected Farzana Chowdhury as its vice -chairperson for the same term, says a press release. Zahur Ullah obtained his B.Com (Hons) in Finance from Dhaka University in 1979. He is the chairman of LL Group involved in buying, manufacturing and exporting of readymade garments and allied products. Zahur Ullah is also the managing director of Gtex Ltd, Labels and Trims Ltd, Everest Embroidery Ltd and Lamisa Ltd and a director of Holiday Publications Ltd.
Farzana Chowdhury obtained her MSS degree in Development Studies. She is an established businesswoman of the country involved in business since 1991. She is also a sponsor director of the blue chip business conglomerate HRC family of companies.

Airtel Bangladesh on Sunday signed a corporate agreement with United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCB), to provide all sorts of voice and non-voice services to meet their day-to-day communication needs. Under the agreement, UCB will enjoy customized call tariff and value added services of airtel, which would keep the users of the bank one step ahead of others in receiving telecommunication services, says a press release.
Chris Tobit, CEO and managing director of Airtel Bangladesh and UCB Managing Director M. Shahjahan Bhuiyan signed the agreement on behalf of the respective sides.

Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. (SJIBL) has organised a workshop on ‘Electronic Fund Transfer Network (BEFTN)’ at its head office recently.

Md Abdur Rahman Sarker, Managing Director of the bank inaugurated the workshop as chief guest while Dashgupta Asim Kumar, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank as Keynote Speaker and Deputy Director of Bangladesh Bank, Khandaker Ali Kamran Al Zahid and Md Akhlasuddin were present as the Guest Speaker, said a press release.
