DBBL ATM booths working now: Spokesman

ATM booths of the troubled Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) across the country are functioning again after nearly two days of shutdown because of technical malfunctioning. “The service resumed from Friday night,” DBBL public relations officer Shahjada Basunia told to the news agency on Saturday.
But long queues of the clients were seen in front of many booths on Saturday.
Miseries of the consumers of all DBBL branches and 14 other partner banks using the DBBL ATM booths started Thursday afternoon as its central server was struck down.
The banks, which transact through the ATM services of Dutch-Bangla Bank include National Credit and Commerce Bank, Southeast Bank, City Bank, Pubali Bank, National Bank, Commerce Bank, Agrani Bank, BASIC Bank and Premier Bank.
Founded in 1995, the bank serves around 1.5 million consumers through 101 branches, a network of 1,608 ATM booths and 84 Fast-Track service booths.
On Thursday, an officer of the bank’s Mirpur branch in the city, seeking anonymity, told to the news agency that the transaction system was facing trouble since morning that day.
“Finally, it collapsed around 1pm.”
“After that, no cash could be withdrawn, but the clients were allowed to deposit money manually,” he said.

Banks to remain closed Monday

Bangladesh Bank (BB) and all scheduled banks will remain closed on August 22(Monday) for Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna.
A press release of the central bank issued on Thursday said there will be no transaction on Monday.

Sonali Bank to digitalise all branches in Rangpur

Senior officials of Sonali Bank Limited here at a monthly business assessment meeting on Thursday directed all concerned officials for quicker digitalisation of all branches under Rangpur division. They were addressing the divisional monthly business meeting of the officials of the divisional, regional, and corporate and district offices of the SBL held at its divisional general mangers’ office in the city.
Representative Sonali’s head officer and its general manager (GM) Md Shahid Hossaine attended the meeting as the chief guest with its GM of Rangpur divisional general managers’ office Md Abu Musa in the chair.
All regional chiefs, chiefs of all six principal offices, regional offices, corporate branches and branches and senior officials of the bank from all eight districts in Rangpur division took part in the meeting.
The meeting assessed business situation and achievements of all regional, corporate, principal offices and branches of the bank in the division till July-2011 and put emphasis on achieving all fixed business indexes during the current fiscal.
He suggested them for increasing capital, profits, realising classified loans, disbursing agri-loans, exploring newer prospective sectors, including the SME and agriculture and expanding investments, updating all data and disposing of the pending cases.
He especially directed the concerned officials for quicker computerization of all branches to provide the best services to the clients with full accountability and transparency for accelerating socio-economic developments in the region.

Pubali Bank organises orientation for new recruits

Pubali Bank Training Institute organised an orientation course for newly recruited junior offices (cash) at the bank’s auditorium in the city recently. The course is designed to familiarise the participants with the concepts, principles, rules, regulations, laws and practices of the bank. Managing director of Pubali Bank Helal Ahmed Chowdhury inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest, while additional managing director MA Halim Chowdhury and deputy managing director Mahbub Mustafizur Rahman were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony.

Jamuna Bank Foundation distributed clothes among the poor at Goyalghunni in Munshigonj recently.

The chairman of Jamuna Bank Foundation Al-haj Nur Mohammed was present at the function as the chief guest, said a press release.

Jamuna Bank’s Man- aging Director Md Motior Rahman, SEVP Mirza Elias Uddin Ahmed, freedom fighter Khandaker Delwar Hossain Milon and councilor Abdul Jalil Matbor were present at the function.
