Dhaka Bank Ltd. was registered as a public limited company in the year 1995 and it started functioning as a commercial bank on 5 July, 1995. The bank opened its business with an authorized capital of Tk. 1000 million and a paid up capital of Tk. 100 million. As on 31 march, 2010 the paid up capital of the bank has gone above Tk. 2659 million. So Dhaka Bank has proven its competence in the mean time.


The products of Dhaka Bank may be divided into four broad groups. These are Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, SME and GTS. Corporate banking is subdivided into the following:

  • Project Finance
  • Syndication & Structured Finance
  • Trade Finance
  • Working Capital Finance

These schemes are all designed to provide finance, strategic guidance and advice to the deserving entrepreneurs in trade and industry of the country. Bundled savings product offers three types of accounts, namely silver, gold and platinum. Each of these has advantages of a current account, still provides interest as a savings account.

Salary account is a special savings account for the salaried people of the institutions having a corporate agreement with Dhaka Bank. This account has extra facilities than a normal savings account. Other schemes are well known from the very names and these provide good terms and conditions for limited income groups of the society.

Small and medium enterprises of a country like Bangladesh play a very effective role to create new employments and to enhance economic growth. Dhaka Bank realized the fact at a very early stage and accordingly initiated funding SMEs in 2003. SME program of this bank engulfs weaving, textile, light engineering and many others in production. The schemes also address small trades. Dhaka Bank tried to identify the problems in depth and came forward with appropriate solutions. It developed collaboration with international organizations like USAID, IFC, South Asia Enterprise Development Facility and World Bank for these programs. As a result bottom line SMEs started attaining sustainable growth in the mean time.

Global Trade Service of DBL is organized and steered by two units, namely Financial Institutions and Remittance Unit. Being centered at H/Q of the bank, the two units maintain correspondent network with 320 banks all over the globe. Clients of Dhaka Bank reach the global trade opportunity through 15 Authorized Dealer branches and one offshore branch. The services provided by DBL under GTS are:

  • Export Letter of Credit, negotiation and documentary collection
