DSE for more stocks investment by Islamic banks

FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed presides over a meeting of the DSE coordination committee in Dhaka Thursday.

DSE President Rakibur Rahman urged the Sharia-based Islamic banks to make more investment in the capital market.


The DSE president made the call Thursday during a meeting with the high officials of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd (IBBL) in the city, said a press release.


Ahmed Rashid Laly, senior vice-president, Md Shahjahan, vice president, Shuvra Kanti Chowdhury, chief executive officer of DSE, Prof Abu Naser Mohammad Abdus Zaher, chairman, Mohammad Abdul Mannan, managing director, Eng Iskander Ali Khan, chairman of executive committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, were present at the meeting.


FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, also the chief of coordination committee of DSE, presided over the meeting.


The meting discussed issues related to increase investments of the sha’ria-based banks in the stock market and formation of a committee to introduce new sha’ria index.
