Trust Bank opens 10 branches in Dec, 2010

With the slogan ‘All the time, always and for all’ the Trust Bank Ltd has launched 10 branches across the country during the month of victory December 2010. The bank, renowned for its latest service and reliability, now has expanded its service to 59 locations across the country, the bank official said.
Through a press release, the banks public relations official have also expressed their determination to continue serving its clients with modern banking system.
According to the bank’s statement, Trust Bank in December 2010 has inaugurated branches at Asulia, Comilla, Rangamati, Kadomtali, Barisal, Rajshahi, Natore SME and Agriculture branch, Rajendrapur Cantonment branch, Manikganj SME and Agriculture branch and Elephant Road branch.

Abrar Anwar joins Standard Chartered

Abrar A. Anwar, a well-known Corporate and Investment Banker of the country, has recently joined Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh as the managing director of wholesale banking to lead its corporate banking team.

Abrar has joined Standard Chartered from Citibank NA, where he was serving as the managing director & head of global corporate & commercial banking, said a press release.

He has acquired 19 years of practical experience in corporate and investment banking in Bangladesh, India and UK.

He brings with him 19 years of successful Corporate and Investment Banking experience, gathered during his work experience in Bangladesh, India and UK.

Abrar started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1991 as a Management Trainee after completion of MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University.

HSBC Organized Workshop for Inter-Bank Dealers

Recently HSBC Bangladesh Global Markets organized a four-day workshop for the inter-bank dealers on "Time Management in Treasury World: Work-Life Balance" at Bandarban. A total of 40 dealers from 12 commercial banks and the central bank took part in the workshop, said a press release. Head of Global Markets, HSBC Bangladesh Bashar M Tareq conducted the workshop.

The workshop focused on the importance of effective time management in the fast-paced and often-stressful markets environment. The participants took part in discussions of real life experience from both home and abroad during the presentation sessions. At the workshop recommendations were devised, with collective acquiescence, on practical solutions to maintaining a healthy work-life balance, the release added.

The HSBC Bangladesh Global Markets team has been organising similar in-country workshops on an annual basis aiming at developing the local markets, building a strong inter-organisation network and enhancing HSBC's image among industry stakeholders.

NBL Tongibari Branch Disburses Agri Loans

The Tongibari branch of National Bank Ltd (NBL) distributed agri loans amongst potato farmers recently. The bank also engaged themselves with a social activity by providing warm cloths to the poor people on this occasion.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman and Whip Shagufta Yasmin, MP attended the function with NBL Managing Director Neaz Ahmed in the chair. Bangladesh Krishi Bank Chairman Khandarker Ibrahim Khaled, NBL Vice President Saidur Rahman and DMD AKM Shafiqur Rahman, Sonali Bank Ltd Director Shuvas Shingh Roy, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Azizul Alam and Tongibari upazila Chairman Kazi Wahid, among others, attended the occasion.
