MTB opens branches in Sylhet, Sunamganj
Mukthadir Ahmed, chairman, Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamgonj, inaugurating a branch of the bank recently.
Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTBL) recently inaugurated two branches at Shah Paran Gate in Sylhet and Syedpur in Sunamgonj.
Ashfaque Ahmed, chairman, Sadar upazila, Sylhet and Mukthadir Ahmed, chairman, Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamgonj separately inaugurated the branches, said a press release.
Md. Hashem Chowdhury, deputy managing director of MTBL attended both the programmes as special guest.
Among others, Syed Rafiqul Hossain, executive vice president and cluster head of other division branches, Swapan Kumar Biswas, executive vice president and head of MTB banking operations department, Mohammad Iqbal, senior vice president and head of MTB SME banking division, Md. Sami-Al Hafiz, group chief communications officer, managers of newly-opened branches, managers of other MTB branches, local elite, leading businessmen and people of different strata were present at the ceremony.

Janata Bank gets two DMDs
Md. Abdus Salam and Md. Siddiqur Rahman joined Janata Bank Limited as deputy managing directors (DMD) recently.
Before joining Janata Bank, Abdus Salam served as DMD of Agrani Bank Limited while Siddiqur Rahman was DMD of Rajshahi Krishi Bank, says a press release.
Abdus Salam started his Banking career in 1983 in Bangladesh Krishi Bank as Principal Officer.
He completed Bachelor of Commerce with honours and Master of Commerce from Dhaka University. He is also a Chartered Accountant.
Md. Siddiqur Rahman started his banking career in Agrani Bank in 1977 as Senior Officer. In 2003, he joined Bangladesh Krishi Bank as General Manager.
Earlier, Siddiqur Rahman completed his Master of Science from Dhaka University.

JBL holds board meeting
Jamuna Bank Limited held 186th board of directors’ meeting at its head office in Dhaka on Sunday.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Md Belal Hossain presided over the meeting, says a press release.
Chairman of the Jamuna Bank Foundation Al-Haj Nur Mohammed, Chairman of the Audit Committee Md. Tazul Islam, MP and Chairman of the Executive Committee Md. Mahmudul Hoque along with directors, managing director and deputy managing director attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the overall activities of the Bank and took some steps for further expansion and improvement of works.

Bank Asia celebrates 12 years of service
President vows to reach out to the unbanked population
Md Mehmood Husain, president and managing director of Bank Asia, speaks at a press meet marking the 12th anniversary of the bank at Hotel Purbani in Dhaka yesterday. Deputy Managing Directors Irteza Reza Chowdhury, Aminul Islam, SM Khorshed Alam and Mohammed Roshangir were also present.
Bank Asia, a leading private commercial Bank, yesterday celebrated its 12 years of operations.
As part of the celebrations, the Bank launched three new services: Smart Junior Saver Account and two new card systems.
Mehmood Husain, president and managing director of the Bank, said all efforts of the Bank are aimed at improving the socioeconomic condition of the country.
Bank Asia plans to reach out to the unbanked population by building rewarding relationships with customers, Husain said at an event at Hotel Purbani in Dhaka.
The Bank has already launched its UK Exchange House to remit money quickly to Bangladesh. It will open a new exchange house in New York.
The Bank helped the SME sector flourish and supported women entrepreneurs with loans, Husain said.
Bank Asia is the country's first private bank to take over operations of foreign banks -- Canadian Nova Scotia and Muslim Commercial Bank of Pakistan.
Bank Asia is the country's only bank that has its own software development firm, IRA. It has developed banking software, also used by Standard Bank, Sonali Bank and nine other banks.
Bank Asia started its operation as a scheduled commercial bank in 1999. It has 56 branches, two agri-branches, nine SME service centres and five Islamic windows.

Mercantile Bank, inaugurates the bank's 67th branch
Md Abdul Jalil MP, chairman of Mercantile Bank, inaugurates the 67th branch of the Bank in Thakurgaon recently. AKM Shahidul Haque, managing director, was also present.
